Description

Elongated octagonal-shaped woven poplar box with lid. Lid hinged by two red ribbons and secured by red ribbon and elastic loop which fits over faux pearl bead on front. Lid and bottom edged with white kid leather skiver. Box lined with salmon colored silk which is rolled over the top box edges to finish. Lining held in place by four red ribbons tied through box sides. Interior fitted with a salmon pincushion, a beeswax cake and a red emery strawberry. Bottom covered by stenciled design wallpaper.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
