Description

Wood rectangular frame (a) stained black. Top side of frame on both edges of border has a carved, "zig-zag", design that is repeated and about 1/8" wide. White, raised rectangle presented directly in the middle of black frame and is about 1/4". It is indented with dull gold "tick marks" that are about 1/8" long x 1/16" wide. Reverse: frame s covered with heavy brown paper and has two eye-hooks screwed into either long side 4 3/8" from top. Bronze, turned wire in the shape of an arc attached to eye hooks for hanging. Rectangular piece of glass (b) 10 1/4" wide x 13 7/8" long. Rectangular cork or lightwood backing (c), natural, fits inside back of frame, approximately 14" x 10 1/8" wide.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
