Elder Abraham Perkins was a schoolteacher and caretaker of boys before becoming an elder in 1845. In 1846, he became second in the New Hampshire ministry, and first in 1852. He alternated periods of serving in the ministry with periods serving as elder at Enfield before retiring from leadership in 1894.
