Self-guided tours and use of the pasture & hiking trail are always free for all visitors every day.

Self-guided tours and the North Pastures Trail are available seven days a week, year-round.

Admission to the site is free.

Please note that the terrain is uneven and of varying inclines; appropriate footwear is recommended.

Collection Tours

Join us for an exclusive members-only tour of the collections, housed at the Administrative Campus & Research Library in Old Chatham. The museum’s holdings comprise the most comprehensive collection of Shaker furniture, tools, costumes, and more in the world.

A minimum of four attendees is required for this event. If the event is rescheduled or canceled, you will be promptly notified.

Historic Mount Lebanon Site

Mount Lebanon was the leading Shaker society in America for 160 years from its founding in 1787 through its closing in 1947, and the North Family was its face to the wider World, composed of some of the most progressive and public Shakers in history.

HOW TO GET TO THE HISTORIC MOUNT LEBANON SITE

From New York City and Points South

Take the Taconic Parkway north to the Route 295, East Chatham, exit. Turn right onto Route 295, and continue approx. 9 miles. At New York Route 22, turn left and continue 5 miles to New Lebanon. At the intersection of Route 20, turn right, then approx. 1/3 mile later, turn right onto Shaker Road. Continue up the hill about 7/10 mile to the historic site.

From Boston and Points East

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit B3. Turn right on NY Route 22 toward New Lebanon. Continue about 8 miles and at the intersection of Route 20, turn right, then approx. 1/3 mile later, turn right onto Shaker Road. Continue up the hill about 7/10 mile to the historic site.

From Albany, the New York State Thruway, and Points West

Take Interstate 90 to exit B3. Turn Left on NY Route 22 toward New Lebanon. Continue about 8 miles and at the intersection of Route 20, turn right, then approx. 1/3 mile later, turn right onto Shaker Road. Continue up the hill about 7/10 mile to the historic site.
