Placard
Advertising placard for Shakers' Dried Sweet Corn, Second Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Placard printed on heavy card stock in multiple colors of ink. A red ground enclosed by a corn stalk border surrounds a center shield-shaped frame containing an ear of corn and a cornstalk printed over a maroon ground. The placard was printed by the Crump Label Press of New York and Chicago. Items printed under the imprint "Crump Label Press" were likely printed between 1878 and 1891 as that was the period when the company produced under that specific name. See: https://www.ephemerasociety.org/labels-by-crump/ for additional information on Crump Label Press. Silk screened replicas of this placard were produced by the Shaker Village Work Group. They do not bear the Crump Label Press imprint.
