As Shaker history gets elevated to a new audience, the opportunity arises for local museums to pick up where the film left off. Sharon Koomler, collections manager at the Shaker Museum in Chatham, N.Y., sees it as a moment for these institutions to revisit the religious foundations of their archives with a renewed emphasis.
