Description

A standing saw clamp with a frame of hard pine (southern yellow pine), jaws of oak (probably red) and moveable jaw supports also of oak. The moveable jaw assembly is secured to the frame by brass flat-head wood screws inserted through 1 1/8" thick leather spacers (one on each side) and tightened with an iron bolt on each side with large, brass wing nuts. An iron pin is inserted into the bottom of each foot to bite into the floor when clamp is used so that only top needs to be clamped to a bench. The insides of the jaws are relieved to 1/2" of the top so the saw blade is held by this lip. The insides are further hollowed at one end to accept the saw handle. The entire device is varnished.
