Description

Wooden bookbinding press set on four splayed legs. Dovetail-jointed into the top of the platform, in the middle of the short sides, is a set of uprights. The uprights are grooved up the center to allow for the press to move up and down by the turning of the central threaded tenon. On the press there is a small rectangular metal plate with a through-hole on either short side. Through the metal plate is a thin metal rod which is connected to the threaded tenon/screw and secured by a metal ferrule. The tenon threads through a dado-jointed crossbar to secure it in place. The top of the crossbar is cut so the ends are at an upward angle. The threaded tenon has a semi-spherical top with two sets of turn lines, between which there is a through dowel to aid in turning. The top has another set of through-holes so that the dowel is visible from the sides.
