Description

Shoe rack of white pine (Pinus strobus) made to rest on the floor. The rack consists of a top, a shelf, a bottom, a solid back made of two pieces of pine, and eight partitions (two pieces each). Proper left corner of the unit was at some time cut out and then replaced. Outside of top and back painted white. Interior surfaces of partitions appear to have been varnished, interior and front edge of bottom painted red-brown.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
