Description

Wood, possibly pine, rectangular chest of drawers on four castors. Single bank of three drawers in the center, lipped with two circular knobs on each drawer. On the proper left and proper right sides of drawers are 5" stiles on either side of those are long cabinet doors with inset panels. Doors are flush with the rest of the piece and have two metal butt hinges on outer sides. Inner sides have one circular knob with a key hole, lock on interior. Interior of cabinet doors have two shelves. Sides and backboard have inset panels - molding is quarter-round, stopped. Drawer corners are dovetailed. Drop leaf on the back which is supported by three pull-out, square dowels; dowels have round carved out spaces for pulling. Outer edge of drop leaf has three small conical protrusions spaced 18", 24", and 36" from one edge.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
