Description

Brother's hat with wide trim, 4 7/8" wide, and crown that is about 5 3/4" in diameter when measured from the top. Made with a rough tan felt worked to exhibit a stiff quality. Top and bottom are edged with camel-colored embroidered thread that is 1/16" wide. Crown is lined in taupe muslin and has a camel-colored leather brim that is 2 1/8" wide. One piece of brown cotton thread is strung twice in interior of crown via two puncture marks on each side.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
