Description

Rectangular base to circular rim with circular lid; catshead style. Black ash splint. Uprights 7/8" - 1" wide and weavers about 1/4" wide. Split rim with single lashing and curved handle, 1/4" wide. Uprights continue downward to form base. Circular lid has upright split design is about 9 3/4" diam., has lashing wound around edge. Two holes in lid, one on either side, so that lid can be slid over handle.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
