Description

Two-door cupboard over firewood bin of white pine. Cupboard doors are frame and raised panel with mortise and tenon joints (pinned) held closed by iron spring latches with porcelain knobs. At top of wood box are two slide-out shelves with breadboard ends, all pine, and turned maple knobs. Each door is hinged with a pair of iron butt hinges. One shelf in cupboard. Wood bin opening has strips of sheeet metal screwed to the edges of the sides and front. Wood bin interior retains painted surfaces, as does the back.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
