Description

A pair of nearly identical photographs mounted on a buff-colored card to create a stereographic view. The view shows the Church Family buildings at Mount Lebanon with the Meetinghouse (1824) and family Dwelling prominent in the foreground. The photographs were made from the hillside east of the family buildings. It appears that the hillside had been recently planted with trees -- probably maple trees to develop a maple sugar grove. The photograph was taken prior to May 12, 1871, when the board fence along the road in front of the Dwelling was replaced by the metal fence seen in later photographs.
