Photographic Views. Shaker Village, Canterbury, N. H. 13. Dining Room
Description
This view of the dining room in the Church Family Dwelling at the Canterbury Shakers shows the room apparently decorated for the Christmas holidays. Of note, aside from the decorations, are the dining room tables and chairs. The stereographic pair of photographs were made by W. G. C. Kimball of Concord, New Hampshire, as part of a series titled "Photographic Views, Shaker Village, Canterbury, N. H. This series is listed on as separate printed sheet pasted to the back of the card identifying a total of 58 views in the series of which this is number 13 "Dining Hall." A second stereograph in the Museum's collection, 2025.22.1, is a very similar view, that is identified as "13. Dining Hall," but the decorations and some details in the room vary enough that it appears that the two views were made at different times.
