SHAKER MUSEUM PRESENTS “INSCRIBED” AT THE KINDERHOOK KNITTING MILL

CHATHAM, NEW YORK, MARCH 14, 2023 – Shaker Museum, which stewards the most comprehensive collection of Shaker material culture and archives, announced today that its latest exhibition – Inscribed – will debut Friday, March 17th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Kinderhook Knitting Mill in Kinderhook, NY. With more than 25 historical objects on display, the new exhibition explores how inscription and the written word were integrated into Shaker design.

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
