Chair, Rocking
Maple and ash rocking chair with tape seat, Canterbury, NH
Description
Maple turnings, slats, rockers, and lower front stretcher; other six stretchers are of ash. Tape seat. Iron nuts, bolts, and washers secure rockers to posts. Wire nails pin all mortise and tenon joints except top slat, which is pinned by wood pegs. Tape is olive and green, with twill weave on all surfaces.
Notes
The seat was re-taped by a Canterbury sister just before the museum acquired it in 1952.
